We don't need words to define How we spend our empty time A look, a touch, a taste is fine Especially on the nights I go blind These empty hours Are completely ours The only thing we'll ever need If we're feeling incomplete Listen to the voice of the breeze Whispering the harmonies Inspiring us to believe Simplicity can be a luxury These empty hours are completely ours The only thing we ever need when we’re feeling incomplete A remedy to cure our ills A quiet calm for inner struggles A soundless word on the tip of our tongues A soundless world filled with what will come A silent film of fate’s intent A narrative of what has always been An acknowledgement of what is ours An appreciation for empty hours These empty hours are completely ours The only thing we ever need when we’re feeling incomplete

Iceland 03:29
Eye, ear, see, hear the ocean Let it flow, dear, don't forget the notion of letting go, Don't forget the notion of letting go. I am, searching for something, I don't know, friend an answer for the wondering where does it go? an answer for the wondering as... The mountain becomes the clouds becomes the sky becomes the night and the ocean washes the day away As the waves settle down we wonder why these northern lights Remind us of our place in this ballet I hear the language of the hidden It's unclear, but I appreciate the vision in their songs I appreciate the vision in their songs We are a mass of insignificance thrown far looking for a place we can belong looking for a place where... The mountain becomes the clouds becomes the sky becomes the night and the ocean washes the day away As the waves settle down we wonder why these northern lights Remind us of our place in this ballet Steward, protect the things that matter Let us not forget just what we found Steward, beware the cling and clatter The shores are getting battered by the sound

Strange Fish 02:10
Strange Fish, deep waters Evolve, get smarter harsh life, a dark night mutate, create light how about you? what can you build with your complaints never too soon, switch the tracks or get off the train Strange Fish, keep breathing grow feet, when needed walk away, from the waves want light, see the day how about you? what can you build with your complaints never too soon, switch the tracks or get off the train Remember when the world felt new there was nothing that you couldn't do if you were just a little taller just a little older as the years passed they crushed you your ego didn't trust you you were just a little taller now you're so much older but it's not too late to re-evaluate Strange Fish, deep waters Evolve, try harder.

The Moon on a String many of our problems are just inconveniences what I mean is these complaints come too soon we have the future today while technology advances And old fate dances to familiar tunes We hear it in our hearts and I swear it's alright The moon's a balloon on a string we won't lose it tonight But, Fingers crossed, we won't get lost again I heard a rumor you were looking for a friend Maybe we're looking for the same things in the end Though Our paths are varied and our similarities are thin We hear it in our hearts and I swear it's alright The moon's a balloon on a string we won't lose it tonight Because a half moon is still full, and a new moon isn't new it's just an alternative and changing point of view Some things will get lost no matter what we do we can keep our sense of humor, our logic and the truth We can keep our sense of humor and somehow we'll make it through Whoa oh, where does the time go Cause when the time goes, it's gone I don't know which is the right road But let's make the best of the one we're on We hear it in our hearts and I swear it's alright The moon's a balloon on a string we won't lose it tonight

A noble hope tossed in the flood I’m kicking my feet though I can’t swim Ill-fitted armor and unholy blood Add weight to the chase, the pursuit begins Keep me in your thoughts I ride for you These schemes seem long shots But I’d die for truth Just like the knight of the rueful countenance I serve a cause the world doesn’t understand I feign crazy up in these mountains So I’ll seem sane in the lowlands Keep me in your thoughts I ride for you These schemes seem long shots But I’d die for truth The shadows hide beasts While they prove light But, I know at least Which one I will fight The shadows hide beasts While they prove light But, I know at least Which one I will fight Keep me in your thoughts I ride for you These schemes seem long shots But I’d die for truth

I'd like to write a book that will one day be burned it'd conflict with the lessons they'd wish that we'd learned it'd be filled with the things that we already knew about our human nature, though we'd denied they were true I'd like to write a book that somebody would read instead of letting their mind fade in the light of tv instead of betting their future on a new revolution that will use them as fodder and not as the solution but I do not write books I can barely write songs but I can't over look what we all know is wrong look deep in your soul past the wants and the lust because we're each in control and know who we should trust I'd like to write a book that our leaders would cite an inspiration for progress, a guide for wrong and right an invitation to unite all castes and all creeds the same message as ever, we all know what we need I'd like to write a book, but I know I never will I'll still live with a hope, that hope can fulfill

My my my Mary I have to let you go Our affair was temporary And upset the status quo Maybe if you were older And I was less mature My thoughts still smolder But your soul is so impure Our love burned like the cuyahoga But it couldn't change me into something I'm not The flames melted the fire trucks But can't convince me to take another shot My my my Mary, you're such a drama queen But you don't have a worry as you become one with the machine Maybe if you could learn, maybe if I didn't care The fever still burns but I can find that anywhere Our love burned like the cuyahoga But it couldn't change me into something I'm not The flames melted the fire trucks But can't convince me to take another shot I wonder where your heart went Wonder why your life meant more With every dollar spent Without thought for consequence My my my Mary I'm looking for release I'll take just what I can carry 'cause I've got simple needs Maybe you'll be inspired, Maybe I'll have regrets And we can re-kindle the fire But I wouldn't take that bet

You Near Me 03:27
We lie awake Because we’re numb to the world Playing dumb as if we’re twirled Around the little finger of the ones Who control the image of the setting sun And the rising of the tides Our eyes are wide We lie awake Because we don’t know any better To feel under the weather As it’s raining down filling up our glass with The poisons that strip the masses Of their ability to feel anything And our eyes sting Could it be we’re walking in our sleep? Could it be I just need you near me? Could it be an old opinion as a new heresy? Could it be I just need you near me? We lie awake Make no mistake there’s more to be done With the riddles that plague imagination We all know we should be moving Through the haze of the illusion that We’re all so god damned needy ‘cause That’s not what our eyes see Could it be we’re walking in our sleep? Could it be I just need you near me? Could it be an old opinion as a new heresy? Could it be I just need you near me? Anything more, doesn’t matter if you are My fatalistic tendencies Tend to get the best of me And I find myself looking for protection (caught up in the thoughts of philosophy) And I find myself awake (Look up at the stars and think of grace) I find myself looking in your direction (I'll hold you in my arms, we'll go together) To find a safe and holy place

about

"Simplicity" was built around a stone-soup concept of combining multiple "simple" elements in such a way that the songs would be full and pleasing in the end. The concept also centered around themes and lyrics that evoked a consciousness to back away from complexity in all aspects of life.
